A limited number of time passes are available from the ferry company each day on a first-come, first-served basis. It is then wise to book your visit or boat tour in advance to make sure to get a ticket for your travel date. Access to the crown of the Statue of Liberty and the copper structure itself remains closed. Prepare your visit to Statue of Liberty : You will be permitted into the base of the Statue of Liberty, but not inside the Statue of Liberty itself (the pedestal) due to security issues. Small backpacks, parcels and bags are permitted on the ferry or Liberty and Ellis Islands. Large packages, backpacks, suitcases and other parcels will not be permitted on the ferry or Liberty and Ellis Islands. All weapons and any dangerous items, including firearms, knives, mace, are strictly prohibited. Visitors and their belongings are subject to inspection. The National Park Service appreciates your patience and understanding of these new security procedures and the additional time they may require. No check-in or locker facilities are available.
